J. Carlito M. Montenegro is a graduate of the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor Degree in 1999. He was admitted to the bar in May 2000.
While studying, Atty. Montenegro worked at the Court of Appeals. In 1999 he joined the Tax Division of Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co., where he developed his proficiency in tax law.
In 2001, together with other colleagues, he founded his law office that is now known as Agan Montenegro Malasaga & Co.
Atty. Montenegro is currently the managing partner of the Firm. His practice mainly focuses on taxation, which includes tax advisory, tax-refund cases, defense of tax assessments cases, settlement of estate taxes, family and wealth planning and general concerns of corporate taxation. He is also active in litigation of tax cases before the Court of Tax Appeals (CTA), CTA En Banc and Supreme Court.
Rommel S. Agan graduated from the Ateneo de Zamboanga in 1992 with a degree in Accounting and earning his CPA License in same year. He obtained his Juris Doctor Degree from the Ateneo de Manila University School of Law in 1998 and was admitted to the bar in 1999.
Prior to law school, he worked at the audit division of Sycip Gorres Velayo & Co. (SGV & Co.) from 1992 until June 1994. He later on joined SGV & Co. tax division in 1998 as a senior associate. In 2001, he started the firm together with Atty. Montenegro.
Atty. Agan served in government in 2005 as the Head of the Technical Group of the Joint Congressional Oversight Committee on the Proper Implementation of the Comprehensive Tax Reform Program of 1997 (COCCTRP) chaired by Senator Ralph G. Recto and former Congressman Jesli A. Lapus.
In 2010, he entered the political arena, as a duly elected City Councilor of Zamboanga City.
Atty. Agan is from Zamboanga City. He is married to Mary Zeta A. Zaide of Vinzons, Camarines Norte, and they have two daughters and a son.
Joel P. Malasaga earned his Bachelor of Science in Applied Economics at the De La Salle University, Manila in 2006. He continued to study law at the San Beda College of Law, Manila where he obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree in 2011. He was admitted to the bar in 2012.
Before joining the Firm, Atty. Malasaga was an associate at the Batuhan Blando Concepcion and Trillana Law Office Corporate, Labor and Immigration laws. He was also involved in legal due diligence and election protest cases.
Atty. Malasaga is married to Blesscilda O. Lansang.
(Ret.) Justice Eduardo G. Montenegro began his education at Lemery Elemetary School and Rizal High School of Taal, Batangas where he graduated Salutatorian in 1947. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the University of the Philippines, graduating with Honors in 1953. Right after his admission to the Bar in 1953, he joined the Law Office of Jose W. Diokno.
In 1967, he was appointed Regional Trial Court Judge. In 1981, he was appointed Assistant Solicitor General until his appointment in 1987 as Undersecretary of the Department of Justice. He would later on become Secretary of Justice. In 1992, he was named Solicitor General until his appointment as an Associate Justice of the Court of Appeals on August 10, 1992.
He is married to Violeta R. Mercado of Gingoog City and they have three children.
